The pumpkin latte is a perfect drink for autumn days. Its surprisingly spicy pumpkin flavour, combined with lots of warm spices, adds an exotic touch to the familiar coffee flavour and provides a special warmth in those chillier days.
espresso / coffee
water
milk
peeled pumpkin
ground cinnamon
sugar
vanilla sugar
a pinch of nutmeg
whipped cream
chocolate chips
Remove the pumpkin skin and seeds, cut it into pieces and place them in a saucepan.
Add the water and sugar to the saucepan and bring it to boil.
Once it boils, put the lid on and simmer for 15 minutes.
Tip: To reduce making time, use pumpkin puree that’s already cooked.
Drain the excess liquid from the saucepan with pumpkin.
Purée the pumpkin with a blender until it’s smooth.
Return the pumpkin purée to the saucepan and add milk, vanilla sugar and all the other spices to it.
Heat the mixture over gentle heat, but do not bring it to boil.
Brew the espresso or coffee in any preferred way.
Pour the prepared coffee into a serving glass.
Strain the pumpkin-milk mixture through a sieve into the serving glass to avoid any large pieces in the beverage.
Garnish it with whipped cream and chocolate chips and serve it at the table.
